CPE 651/601: Pavement Design


The unit includes detailed design procedures as presented in the AUSTROADS Pavement Design Manual. A section on materials discusses specification requirements and the testing procedures used by authorities to assess the quality of pavement materials and to predict their performance. Other topics deal with the collection and analysis of traffic data, empirical and mechanistic design procedures, maintenance and rehabilitation, and pavement management systems. The unit includes the latest developments in research into pavement materials. It also provides background information on the history of pavement design and the origin of pavement design theories.
