CPE 653/603: Pavement Wearing Surfaces
This unit presents information on pavement wearing surfaces currently in use within Australia and New Zealand. The five topics in the unit cover the characteristics required of a surfacing, the types of wearing surface and their construction, the materials used including the preparation of specifications, the philosophy behind the selection of surfacings and selection criteria and finally the design of surfacing treatments. A large number of publications by state road authorities, local government and industry are referred to in this unit which presents current best practice in pavement surfacing. New and innovative products and processes are also covered and reference is made to local and overseas research programs associated with wearing surfaces.
