Semester 2 has seen the introduction of a new elective within the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Professional Honours in Infrastructure Asset Management) program. The introduction of a new unit "Water Essentials: The Resource, Water Quality and the Environment," has added and further extend the variety of electives available.

With an MoU in place with the Australian Water Association (AWA), this is the first output of a cooperative effort to provide a quality postgraduate unit specifically for those with an interest in/desire for, up-to-date knowledge and understanding of water as a resource, of water quality, and its role in the environment, as significant determinants of how that resource is managed. Information and a grounding in these elements determine how management is structured and practiced.

Local government and consultants were keen to have an optional non-pavements elective and this unit is welcomed by those seeking a broader perspective into infrastructure asset management.
