The CPEE Master of Pavement Technology Graduate will lead the design, building and maintenance of their nation’s complex transportation infrastructure in a sustainable manner.
Graduate Attributes and Graduate Statement
Roads and pavements form a large component of the national investment in infrastructure, and there is increasing appreciation of the need for efficient pavement design and construction to minimize the long-term lifecycle costs, including operation, maintenance, management and renewal of these major physical assets. This will add to the demand for technical specialists with road pavement engineering skills and career opportunities exist with Federal and State government authorities, local authorities, private civil and mining companies, civil engineering contractors, engineering consulting firms and regulatory organizations.
Austroads and the Australian Asphalt Pavement Association (AAPA) the founding members of the Centre for Pavement Engineering Education (CPEE), support the program and the qualification is recognised by the road industry.
Applicants who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Pavement Technology can apply to enter the Master of Pavement Technology with credit for the units completed in the Graduate Certificate in Pavement Technology.
CPEE may award Specified Credit or Unspecified Credit. The awarding of credit means that a student who successfully applies for credit shall have a reduced number of Units to complete their CPEE program to meet the requirement for graduation. For example, a CPEE student who has been awarded 2 Units of Credit in the Masters of Pavement Technology will need to complete (pass) a further 6 Units to meet graduation requirements.
Further information - Academic Credit
Each of our units has an equivalent full time student load (EFTSL) of 0.125 (12.5%).
The study of one unit in a semester would be an ETFSL of 12.5%. A standard full-time load is eight units in the academic year (8*12.5%= 100% or 1 EFTSL). For our programs a full time study load would be 4 units per semester.
Each CPEE unit is worth one (1) credit point unless otherwise specified. One credit point involves a student workload of approximately 10 hours per week over a semester.
In respect to study hours, we estimate that students would need to devote approximately 10 study hours per week, per unit. These study hours are inclusive of teaching time (e.g. lectures, online teaching), independent study, assessment tasks and/or examination time. Our semesters are broken down into study and exam periods. The study period is 15 weeks duration per semester. We state that the student study workload for each unit is 150 hours over the student period. 10hrs*15wks = 150hrs.
Approved applicants and re-enrolling students are to use the link above to access the semester enrolment form which includes units selection for the semester. If you have not been approved to study with CPEE please refer to the New Applications process below.
