CPEE a Winner in Excellence Awards

AustStab, the Pavements Recycling and Stabilisation Association, presented their 2013 Awards of Excellence to celebrate 15 years of education and relationship building, and improved safety and innovation

Held at the QT Hotel on the Gold Coast on 13 August 2013, AustStab celebrated distinction in the industry with its second Awards of Excellence, sponsored by Caterpillar Australia.

"The collective work of the four award winners, and others finalists, for the Awards of Excellence have improved workplace safety, provided long distance and short course education to over 600 students in insitu pavement stabilisation, have provided innovation and excellence in unique pavement locations, in challenging work environments, celebrated substantial long term relationships and produced real economic, social and environmental savings in a diverse number of locations across South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland."

The Centre for Pavement Engineering Education (CPEE) entry titled "Enhanced Knowledge and Education" won in Category 2: Excellence in Research or Education.

 

The award recognized that since 1999 CPEE has been delivering a specialist unit of study, "Insitu Stabilisation" as part of the tertiary recognized pavement courses on "Infrastructure Asset Management" and "Road Engineering and Construction". Since its commencement, over 100 students/engineers have completed the course. CPEE, in conjunction with AustStab, have also delivered over two day training seminars in more than twenty locations since 2011, with over 700 candidates improving their awareness, knowledge and skills as part of the face to face learning, discussions and tutorials.

Other Award Categories and winners were:

Category One: Excellence in Work Health and Safety- Downer Infrastructure Key Learning's from Near Miss Reporting.

Category Three: Innovation or Excellence in Sustainability in Pavement Stabilisation- South Australian Jockey Club: Morphetteville Racecourse - Sandtrack Rehabilitation Works.

Category Four: Innovation or Excellence in Stabilisation in Local Government- City of Townsville: Stabilising a Partnership.
