Workplace Mentors Provide Valuable Support for CPEE Students

One of the final units that the Centre for Pavement Education (CPEE) students undertake in their higher education program is a capstone unit involving a research project relevant to their work with support from a formal mentor – student link. For Semester 1, 2019 we would like to acknowledge the valuable help given by the following mentors to the success of our recent students who studied the industry research projects unit:

  • Gordon Boer, Principal - Roads and Civil: EIC Activities, New South Wales
  • Todd Kalajzich, Process Engineering Manager: Boral Construction Material and Cement, New South Wales
  • John Kennedy, Principal Engineering Geologist: 4DG (4DGeotechnics), Western Australia
  • Iain McLean, Pavements and Geotechnical Manager: Roads and Maritime Services, New South Wales
  • Darryl Marks, Senior Asset Management Engineer: Regional Roads Victoria, Victoria
  • Steve Middleton, Civil Engineer: Aerodrome Management Services, Western Australia
  • Elsabe van Aswegen, Principal Professional Leader - Future Transport Infrastructure: ARRB Group, Western Australia

CPEE understands the importance of mentoring for student development when a supportive mentor shares their expertise, provides valuable feedback, and helps to answer technical questions. Workplace mentors also assist the CPEE Unit Chair to grade the final reports produced by students.

Our special thanks to all current and previous mentors who have made a positive contribution towards our students successfully completing their unit.
