Course Objectives

This course addresses the important emerging field of infrastructure asset management for engineering graduates working in a local, state or federal government authority or seeking employment with any of those authorities. The course is a joint arrangement with the Centre for Pavement engineering Education and UTAS. CPEE has worked with the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) to design a course that will provide the necessary skills and knowledge for employment in advanced technical roles involving the management of infrastructure assets. The course will follow the guidelines set out for management of the physical infrastructure in the International Infrastructure Asset Management Manual which has been adopted by government authorities in Australia and a number of other countries.

{tab Commonwealth Supported Places}

COMMONWEALTH SUPPORTED PLACES

All Commonwealth supported places are substantially subsidised by the Australian Government so that students only pay 'student contribution' amounts for their units of study.

Eligible Commonwealth supported students (Australian citizens and permanent humanitarian visa holders) can use a HECS-HELP loan to help pay student contribution.

To be eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place, students must study onshore - for more information please see HECS-HELP Loans.

Commonwealth Assistance Form (CAF)

It is a legislative requirement that you complete a CAF if you want to take up a Commonwealth supported place. To complete an eCAF log in to the Universities eStudent, and click on the Commonwealth Assistance tab.

If you use HECS-Help and defer your fees, you will need to include your Tax File Number (TFN).

Even if you pay your fees up-front or have a full scholarship, you still need to complete a CAF but you don’t need to include your TFN.

Important! Failure to complete a CAF can result in cancellation of your enrolment.

{tab Full Fee Places}

FULL FEE PAYING PLACES

A Full Fee Paying place is not Commonwealth supported, that is, not subsidised by the Australian Government. If you are a domestic student in a Full Fee Paying place you must pay full tuition fees for your studies.

Eligible Full Fee Paying students (Australian citizens and Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders) may be eligible for a FEE-HELP loan to pay all or part of their tuition fees.

{tab How to Pay}

What to Pay?

Invoices

Student contribution or tuition fees will be invoiced to you automatically via the University of Tasmania eStudent once you have enrolled in the units you wish to study.

To view your invoice, login to your eStudent, and click on the Email My Tax Invoice button under the Finance tab.

International students should refer to the University of Tasmania International Students course fees page to get an indicative course cost.

Challenges for Roads and Pavements

Challenges for Roads and Pavements

Challenges for Roads and Pavements: now and into the future

Webinar: Wednesday 27 May @ 2.00 – 3.00 pm, no cost registration

Presenter: Kym Neaylon, PhD(Civil), BEng(Civil), CPEng, MIE Aust, NER Executive Manager (Professional Development), CPEE

Pavement design incorporates a wide range of variables that include materials from differing geological sources, seasonal moisture variations and changes in traffic loading over time. Therefore, predicting the life of a pavement brings a lot of risk particularly when balanced against financial constraints to build or maintain pavements. The use of modern civil engineering materials can help reduce the risk by maintaining the integrity of the pavement for a longer period which also contributes to reducing the requirement for maintenance activities during the life of the pavement.
Key theme

  • Emerging trends or issues in pavement performance
  • Emerging Materials\
  • Quality of the unbound fill materials
  • Current design principles used for sealed & unsealed roads

World Premier: CPEE “Live Online” Training Course

World Premier: CPEE “Live Online” Training Course

 A “World Premier ….” perhaps if you count the first staging of a CPEE “Live Online” training course in webinar mode.

With the country in significant “lock down” mode, CPEE has transformed its highly regarded face to face short courses into structured online packages. The launch occurred on Tuesday 28 April 2020 with the first session of our “Road Surfacing – Sprayed Seals” going live for South Australian delegates. With 16 delegates participating over three sessions.

  • Tuesday 28 April: Part A – 2 x 90mns sessions
  • Thursday 30 2020: Part B – 2 x 90mns sessions
  • Friday 1 May: Workshop (optional) – 1hr session

The feedback has been excellent and Presenter, Dr Kym Neaylon, CPEE Executive Manager: Professional Development was pleased with the outcome, in particular the delegate participation.
